Weston Park

Heat no clouds and students on the grass
Scanty-clad beneath the flowering trees
With frisbee ball and morning lecture notes are laid
I sit apart. Close by me
A black lady is sitting, on her knee
Her boy beams back as quietly she sings
My joy is in the name of the Lord
My strength is in the name of the Lord

Asian students local girls with prams
The pregnant morning holds alike in thrall
The students fight away the urge to cram as water-bottled
Joggers pound the miles
But for my neighbours all is peace and smiles
Their strength and joy contagious as she sings
Today their joy is my strength also
Their love is my hope also
