Vauxhall and Duddeston
Aston, Gravelly Hill
on the north line out of New Street
station names that linger still
Vastness of the city
with all greyness reared above
silence of the strangers
thoughts of those I love
Away from boring duty
were village vale and hill
but Erdington and Wylde Green
Sutton Coldfield held me still
But with hawthorn trees in blossom
spring had crept unseen
at Four Oak, Butlers Lane and Blake Street
hedgerows in between
And though only for a morning
I was cured by nature's wand
life shone in glory over Shenstone
Lichfield City and beyond
