Rememberings

I remember
All the far-off yesterdays:
The tide-streams and the sea;
A girl with high-combed hair
On a Spanish quay;

Shipmates;
And the wind-kissed ships
We sailed to distant seas when we were young;
The old nostalgic songs
That sailers sung

The tide ebbs,
And a dirge the wild wind sings
For sailships and girls with high-combed hair,
And youth-
Fled on a sea-bird's wings
